Social Justice

Our school responds to a call of service in the spirit of joyful loving that seeks the presence of God in each person encountered.

Our students and families generously support different social justice initiatives.

St Francis de Sales Mini Vinnies

Our school has a very active Grade 5/6 Mini Vinnies group, who give up their lunchtimes to assist those in need. Like the St Vincent de Paul Society they belong to, they organise and implement various charitable events “which offer ‘a hand up” to people in need.” As the St Vincent de Paul Society, Mini Vinnies “aspire to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society.”

During Lent Mini Vinnies organise the Project Compassion Appeal which then goes to Caritas who assist people across Australia and also across our world.

St Vincent de Paul Society

We have a strong partnership with The St Vincent de Paul Society and support their Winter Appeal in June around the Feast of the Sacred Heart and their Christmas Appeal. Non-perishable food and toiletries, and presents are collected and distribute to those in need within our local community by our local St Vincent de Paul Conference.

Senior School Action Team

In addition, the Senior School Action Team initiatives allows students to work towards the common good through acts of social justice. They develop initiatives which provide financial, practical and prayerful support for the poor and marginalised at local, national and global levels.  One such example was the instigation of the Friends of Ermera partnership, established in conjunction with the City of Casey.
